On 22 October, the UN’s Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage approved a US$20 million allocation to support recovery in flood-affected communities along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers. The August disaster caused estimated direct economic damage of US$2.7 billion, while reconstruction requirements were estimated at US$4.7 billion. Environmental organisations, development agencies and infrastructure operators can explore opportunities in climate-risk monitoring, disaster resilience and environmental reporting. HPC can support environmental data processing and analytical modelling; the US$20 million is climate-recovery financing, not the value of an individual environmental-services contract.
