On 30 October, the United Nations General Assembly approved a three-year extension to Nepal’s preparatory period for graduation from the Least Developed Countries category, moving the transition deadline to 24 November 2029. The additional time is intended to help Nepal strengthen productive capacity, institutions and economic resilience before losing certain international support measures. No direct financial allocation was attached to the extension. Government agencies, policy advisers and development organisations can explore opportunities in trade planning, institutional reform and economic-transition programmes. HPC can support policy research, economic modelling and programme-monitoring systems; contact HPC for a quotation based on your project scope.
