Nepal Explores Earthquake Catastrophe Bond to Strengthen Financial Resilience

Nepal's agreement with the World Bank to explore an earthquake catastrophe bond has introduced a potential new approach to disaster financing. The proposed instrument could help the country access funds more quickly after a major earthquake, reducing delays associated with conventional emergency funding.
Banks, insurers and institutional investors require improved financial forecasting, catastrophe-risk modelling and capital-management systems. HPC provides financial risk simulation, portfolio analytics and capital-planning infrastructure for a baseline fee of $650,000.
